Math

Curricular Integration

At Uxbridge Secondary School the Mathematics program provides students with the opportunity to learn through the Ministry Curriculum as well as areas of enrichment. The Mathematics Department encourages students to participate in the University of Waterloo Pascal, Cayley, Fermat and Euclid Math contests each year.

The development of mathematical knowledge is a gradual process. A coherent and continuous program is necessary to help students see the underlying principles of mathematics. The fundamentals of important skills, concepts, processes and attitudes are initiated at each grade level.

Students who make the effort required and apply themselves will discover that there is a direct relationship between their effort and their achievement. Studies also show that students perform better in school if their parents/guardians are involved in their education.

Academic and University courses develop students’ knowledge and skills through the study of theory and abstract problems.

Applied and College courses focus on the essential concepts and develop students’ knowledge and skills through practical applications.

Essential courses focus on everyday math skills to prepare students for the workplace.

Mission Statement

The Mathematics program strives to have students realize their potential and the importance of mathematics in today’s technological society.

Vision Statement

To infinity and beyond …
